Today’s blog update:

Louisa Miles runs this MAD company. MAD is a Spatial Design company creating blueprints to Motivate, Inspire and Rejuvenate your Design Spaces & Personal Spaces.

Louisa is “brilliant, bold and unbreakable”.   Most Skype’s last an hour but two and a half hours slipped by and we could have carried on all day, I reckon. Without a doubt, a super authentic, engaging Lady with a great spirit! 😉 I am looking forward to meeting and working alongside her.

“It is only as we develop others that we permanently succeed.”Tell me and I’ll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I’ll understand”..

  • Was it a graphic?

  • Was it an invite to network or an offer of help?
  • Was their quick witted #fun humour (banter)
  • Was it their right or left mind mapping brain?
  • Was it their energy?
  • Was it their brand?
  • Or …….was it their looks?

So here goes, Who have you connected with today? And what was it about this connection that grabbed your attention?

Can’t start a fire without a Spark!

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011

Last Thursday evening,  I tore myself away from my desktop to attend a TLO – Turn Lights On – this is happening event in Swansea, hosted by Georgina Jones.

Those of you who follow me on the social media networks will have read my tips on how to breathe and sparkle for business. I campaign for busy entrepreneurs and talented humans who want to increase their followers and leads online. Attracting new clients is the aim of my campaigns for brand owners who are busy mentoring their courses, services and products out there in the real world.

Great Marketing

During the grey and frosty weeks that follow the glitz and glamour of Christmas can make even the hyperactive among us feel like shrivelling up on the sofa. So I heard my inner voice shout out ‘ put your face on and heels and join an event that promises to turn lights on’. Now that is just the right marketing for this time of year. I wasn’t disappointed and met up with some beautiful and talented singers and a sociable male Chiropractor from Carmarthen.

Georgina was highly engaging as the host and asked us to chink one anothers glasses before sharing with each other what turned our lights on. Now I am entering a new and scary phase where I am moving away from my professional health and fitness service, which I’ve loved for over twenty six years work and entering into a new chapter that of mentoring busy humans, who want to follow their dream career and business.

Knowing who you are first before following your dream career or business takes steps and in some cases lot’s of steps given the magic opportunity that comes your way when you’re seeking it. Motivation is the driving force and intrinsic motivation comes from within. It’s an internal striving to be good at something. Research shows that those who undertake activities or exercise for their own satisfaction are happier, because intrinsic motivation is about passion and love for what we do. Extrinsic motivation is about being motivated due to a reward, a prize or recognition and praise. We are born to be intrinsically motivated with an innate drive to be physically active (some more than others).

Intrinsic motivation will normally see the greatest results long term, says Rhonda Cohen. Luckily, I have bags of both. So don’t let the grey, wet weather dampen your style!

Go on, what are you waiting for take action and take your first steps.

Farokh Engineer

Farokh Engineer

Who would have known that a chance meeting with a sponsor, attending Tom Shanklin’s Testimonial launch, would have taken me (a week later) to La Manga in Spain, to hear a short speech by the former Indian wicket keeper, Farokh Engineer.

“I loved the ball coming at me at me at 100 MPH and leaving the bat at 500 MPH,” he said.

Farokh auction speech was to raise funds for the 7th Twenty20 tournament, at La Manga Club 2011.  In partnership with Cricket España in support of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and sponsored by Ideal Group Ltd.  Farokh, (I must spell his christian name correctly, in case he takes a swing with his bat) hosted the auction and raffle, alongside Sarah Botham. Little did my group realize that a graceful Farokh, donning Hawaiian shorts, while enjoying a dip in the hotel pool earlier, would have captivated an entire full-house at dinner. What a tremendous team player, character and knowledgeable speaker on cricket.

The Event flyer said ” Come and enjoy a weekend of cricket in the autumn sun at  La Manga Club, the 1400-acre sports and leisure resort on
south-east Spain’s ‘warm coast’. Join Sarah Botham, the Spanish Cricket Association and others for this fun and exciting, bedroom apartment day cricket tournament
• Barbecue buffet on Saturday evening • Raffle and auction in support of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research • Prize giving on Sunday.

Now who could resist an invite like that?

The main fund raising event, for the weekend, was the three course buffet dinner and auction.

Commencing 8pm, the dinner was hosted by Simon Weston, OBE who received a standing ovation from a packed house.  You could hear a pin drop as Simon gave his account of warfare, at it’s most hellish and it’s most funniest. Then a question and answer session with Paul Burnham, Founder of the Barmy Army, on seventeen years of following the England Cricket Team, around the world, in a journey that has recently culminated in winning the Ashes down under and becoming the number one test side in the world.  Paul did a tremendous job multitasking for this charity event, while some of us survived the hilarious antics of the Barmy Army.

Motivating Ecademy Cricket Club ~ How can you resist an invitation like this > La Manga Club, in collaboration with the Spanish Cricket Association, can help you organise your own club, corporate or school tournament, training camp or tour. Qualified umpiring services arranged. Excellent match and training facilities. What are you waiting for?

The Bucket List ChitChat

Monday, April 4th, 2011

“I run hospitals not health spas!”

I watched this wonderful film, starring Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson, give an incredibly wicked performance of two terminally ill men, escape from a cancer ward and head off on a road trip with a wish list of to-dos before they die.

Morgan Freeman (who plays a mechanic and a married family man) writes his philosophical bucket list of what he has left to achieve, while Jack Nicholson (who plays a hard-nosed successful business mogul) tries to roller coast his list. They decide to set off around the world to share the thrills and spills of two feisty, adventurous men.

This idea of writing out a Bucket List does focus the mind on what do I want to do in life.  Action rather than recret.

What would be at the top of your bucket list?

One Monday tweet that caught my attention :
@25% DNA Vs 75% Lifestyle. #TEDxMaastricht #luuksimons

I would add : 25% DNA The unique you Vs 75% Lifestyle.  So there is no doubt lifestyle has a major impact on health and wealth.
