Nature’s healing powers

If you’re lucky, you do the kind of work that sparks your creativity and makes you want to meet its challenges.

I am an educator first and foremost. My intention is to help you feel more energised for work and personal activities, through self-awareness and self-healing.

Next time you find yourself overwhelmed by work issues, working on your own from home, ask yourself the following question:

How do I get more energy? Then trust your body to give you the answers.

Address an issue that drains you.

Look for help available, if you are in debt.

Ask for support if you want to let go of abusive relationships.

Find new training for that dream job, if you are unhappy in your current one.

Surround yourself with ‘balcony not basement people’. Balcony type people will help you see possibilities in life.

Listen to what your body is telling you.

Learn to nourish yourself by eating super foods. There are lots of recipes in health magazines that will give you ideas.

Change those bad habits of working through lunch and tea breaks.

Ask about your nearest leisure activities:

Take a walk by your favourite sea-front, river or mountain.

If you’re not getting enough sleep, take time to breathe deeply this helps calm the mind and the body.

Help yourself unwind at the end of a hectic day by taking a relaxing bath and listen to soft music.

Keep your lounge space relaxed with some aromatherapy ‘calming’ scented candles.

Mindfully creating better habits by meditating regularly, you too can ‘let go’ of those old habits that no longer work for you..

Being self-aware, having good self-esteem and loving yourself is the ‘key’ for better health.

Once you tune into your body’s signals and know what to do, start doing it.

Acting on your body’s healing messages will re-energise you, help  you feel and be your best.

How practical and beneficial are they to business?

How many of you ( having filled in the latest insurance policy for an increasing number of gadgets ) are aware of how many hours you slog away at your desk tops, plus latest apps?  How many of you are aware of the repetitive strain, postural hypertension and worse still, a worsening of your cardio health, as you lean over the computer day after day?

Because of my ergonomics awareness, I build in postural awareness questions weekly, during my onsite gym inductions.  Helping employees to check all those vital, large muscle groups responsible for core stability  that help prevent  injuries. Our attention is brought back to these vital sets of exercises when a accident happens to us,

Post injury or ill health, we are forced to look at the benefits of cardiovascular exercising and core stability.

Building in these essential postural stability exercises to a weekly programme help us to prevent injuries and keep our business ticking over nicely.

Luckily we can fit in a ‘missed’ muscle group workout anywhere, anytime.  I’ll cover them in my next article.

Are you making a dent in the way people act and think?

Wednesday, October 24th, 2012

Mark Schaefer wrote ‘as a rule of thumb that only about two percent of your blog readers leave comments’. That’s a generalization I have found that holds up across many types of blogs. Readers may be too busy, too shy, or just not interested enough to comment. So you need a LOT of readers before you start getting comments.

So how do you know if your blogs are making an impact?

Be the Spark!

With the recent trend of resurrecting old blogs, I felt the need to talk to people about the true impact of my blogs. Make an effort and get to know them better. I’ve started to call up my readers and favourite authors. After one invite, Lisa Bakker called me this morning. Hearing the response of readers gives you energy. Confirming comments when genuine, have a re-energizing impact.

Two thing, inside and outside resources. Outside resources for me have been weekly mastermind Skype’s with Marja Botha van Doorn . I have now linked her with Lisa and myself. Engaging with like-minded coaches (thanks Marja and Lisa.) Just knowing that I have people to turn to for intellectual stimulus and support, is invaluable for me, so that I gain a greater resolve. I’m taking risks and implementing things in my future business that are stretching me.

The internal resources are my skills, mind-set, a solid personal foundation. Most entrepreneurs get started with little clarity on their foundation and how important that is to leaping. I remember linking with Suzy Greaves who wrote Making the Big Leap and my son has certainly owned the phrase ‘A single leap of faith’ actively doing parachute jumps (including over Arnhem last year) across Europe. These jumps give a real meaning to that phrase. Having a strong foundation (roots ) to leap from, is crucial to success.

Shifting bad habits is needed to overcome that initial fear. The biggest habit change for me is about valuing (pricing) my service in this recession. Using a check list to measure and balance my income, meditation, physical activity, healthy eating and engaging with other successful business owners. Starting my day with this check list discipline, has been a significant driving force in my personal power, clarity and confidence.

Do What Brings You Energy.

Self-compassion is keeping a caring, gentle eye on my most important needs and desires—big or small and inner or outer—and giving yourself permission to do more of what brings you ease and energy, and less of what drains you.

How you start your day and finding your flow influences how productive you are. Be present.

Some of the most successful entrepreneurs understand the benefits of having an early-morning routine.  These famous creative minds knew that getting the most out of their morning routine meant finishing their day the right way.

The way you start each day is incredibly important. What you do first thing in the morning matters whether you’re a trainer, a writer, a small business owner or a busy mum and dad.

Some of the most successful entrepreneurs understand the benefits of having an early-morning routine.  These famous creative minds knew that getting the most out of their morning routine meant finishing their day the right way.  But a morning routine is only half of a productive day; the other is the evening routine that precedes it

Reading a good book is known to quieten the mind, lessens stress.

Share events of the day when sitting around a table.

Doing something completely different to your daily tasks can be energising.

Meditation is action. Our mind is much harder to quieten than our body. Our lives are busy and fast paced, filled with external noise and distractions. Clarity comes from focus, from finding that quiet space within.  Meditation, even in small amounts will make room for abundance.  If you are looking for answers go within, meditate and then let go.

A meditation tip: Practice stillness; be aware of how you breathe.
