Are you connecting or just collecting?.

Reading through some of the social media articles, across the networks, I came across one brilliant article asking the question:

“Are you connecting or just collecting?”.

If you are using social media connections purely to push up your online business scores on klout or peerindex, then it’s merely a number crunching exercise.

If you’re being truly social and have lot’s of conversations with your community, you are far more likely to gain good scores, plus true friends and better still, advocates.

Is what your doing as a project, role, career or job teaching you something. If you’re a coach or mentor do you know the difference?

Are you someone who naturally is gifted at helping someone to achieve their dream?. Do you inspire and connect?.

Building an online community network can take hours of engaging with authenticity. It can equally take just a minute in some instances, to gain a true friend and advocate.

On a spiritual level, when you connect with someone who is at peace, you feel the peace. When you connect with a like-minded soul, the level of connectivity is higher. When you connect with a gifted, emotionally intelligent person, you soar.

A friend can mean ‘someone who provides emotional support or someone whose life has crossed mine’. The quality and depth of our friendships and advocacy online, is our choice.

Do you re-energise your clients?

Positive people perpetuate passion – and you surely do Caroline πŸ™‚

Lovely post! I realised towards the end of last year (2010) that I felt horribly disconnected from everything and everyone, busy gathering, collecting and polishing … so my action word for 2011 was “connection”.

I have made some very strong friendships and business relationships through the wonders of social media, for which I am truly blessed and grateful, but know that online connections can leave us scattered, disengaged and feeling loveless if we forget to keep our feet firmly planted in reality. It is so important to keep our social connection flowing yet hold tight a true sense of our own Self-worthiness and remain in a heightened state of self-awareness.

Thank you for this pertinent reminder!

    Mariam, Tim, Lynne and Moonpoppy,

You have made my Thursday complete. You have all validated my blog and embraced my self worth. I too in return value you as individuals met only (apart from Tim – who I have got to know over a period of 6months) on twitter. πŸ™‚

Quoting Tim @You spot an article or link you think they’d be interested in, so you forward it to them. You build confidence in them and they in you, most likely in private messages because you begin to divulge stuff you just don’t want to be public to the world. You might arrange a phone call, or Skype, especially if you’re on different continents.

I spotted Mariam’s and Lynne’s tweets and both persona’s came over quite clearly. I’ve come to understand Mariam and Tim love coffee and that Lynne is a hugely loving, caring person. Moonpoopy I need to focus on your tweets and messages. So yes, I can’t see why we can’t all tweet up/skype or even travel to Heathrow for a ‘knees up’ πŸ™‚

Embracing technology by making real connections in safety.

Warm Thursday ((Hugs)) to you all. Carolyn :)x

We have Bedford Tweet Ups and have met great local peeps through that.
And in July, Tim and I are having a joint birthday celebration meet-up πŸ™‚
