A Gavin and Stacey Nite

Social : A Gavin and Stacey Nite

by Carolyn Williams on 28-Dec-08 12:53pm
Popping out for some tonic. Sssh!
Last night was one of those Gavin and Stacey nites wink I had cleaned (and my fridge) all day as best as I could with my left hand. Robin might have some useful tips for me here wink I was in one of those ‘what else can I do with a frozen shoulder’ mode’ my osteopath has advised me not to use my right arm for a bit!
Then my neighbour ( having returned from Leicester for Xmas) called me around 7pm to ask me to pop in saying ‘I have your xmas pressie here for you’ With good intention I confirm – as I had kept her pressie neatly wrapped under my tree. I add the extra bit of info that I am ‘popping out’ for some tonic to go with a Bombay Sapphire pressie ….4 Hours later I got back. Although in true Christmas spirit she was collected to join us in the meantime!!

There seemed to be a run out of tonic from most of my local stores. So on route home I bump into my son Rhys and son in law and other neighbours, who frog march me to the nearest pub. They were in good spirits having had ‘grand seats plus food and drinks to watch the Ospreys V Scarlet’s. The banter btw them was .. about a young fan (in the tunnel) coming up to my son thinking he was an Osprey player to ask for his autograph smile He politely tells the young fan, he was not a player and then turns around to get his photo taken with James Hook (for those who don’t know him – he alternates with Stephen Jones as fly half for Wales wink http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Hook_(rugby_player)

The rest of the evening is spent …taking the proverbial out of Rhys re playing for the Ospreys and a ‘Pics with Jamie!’ The up shot was, I left my place at 8pm for some tonic and return with a large bottle of tonic (from a kind neighbour) at 1am.
Not to mention the Gins in between wink It can only happen around ‘our way!’

Brill!!

Wellbeing Versus Wealth – A Balance

Wellbeing Versus Wealth – A Balance [ Business : ]

Yesterday I posted a Blog ‘Wellbeing Versus Wealth’ and quoted David Cameron’s Speech. Here is a brief introduction to it……
(see yesterday’s Blog for the rest of the speech)

‘The central political challenge of our times.”
DAVID CAMERON will tell business leaders today that there is “more to life than money” as he attempts to make a clean break with Thatcherism.
He will tell business leaders that “general wellbeing” is more important than personal wealth and will list beautiful surroundings, culture and better relationships as society’s new goals’

As a result of this indepth reply from Amanda Vlahakis post, I have responded to her views and here are some of my answers

Amanda said ‘No one is raising the children any more because the government has got everyone chasing money instead.Other Europeans don’t work so hard, so why is it that we are finding that we have to work so hard? Why do they have the time to ‘live’ and ‘contribute’ more than just money to the world, and we do not? There must be another way and when we aren’t working we should be nurturing our children (who are the fabric of the society of the future) and being better citizens ourselves within our own communities. How can we do any of that at the moment, we don’t have any time?’

Madeleine Bunting’s Book called ‘ Willing Slaves’ describes how the Overwork Culture is ruling our lives in Britain.
Wealth – Obviously, most people equate having more money with feeling better, since more money means more luxuries,
more time for recreation, leisure, holidays. More money means a better quality of life, Because of our in-built quest for progress, by which I mean ‘bigger, better, more’, we have an unavoidable desire to increase our quality of life, and the best way to do that in the world today is by earning more money.
There is a constant battle to adapt and survive, anyone who is content to sit back and relax face being odd or left behind even?
It is this fundamental desire for a higher quality of life, this in-built desire for progress which never goes away, even with progress. People will always want more, even if they have all they need to live comfortably. When your wealthier your then faced with how should we invest the money? This current economic climate has blasted that plan well and truly out of the water.

Franck Peters wrote ‘Wellbeing, like Charity, begins at home. It is down to the individual, no government can help. The greatest influence starts at home and maybe in local councils, committee work. If you look at the transition town scene, then, those are good signs and good steps – with clever marketing when these towns are mentioned in popular programs such as the Archers so that the message begins to spread. I don’t remember, even from a perspective of looking at the UK from the outside, any mention of a national government.
Only when this has established at a grass roots level, will politicians on a national level begin to listen – because they fear loss of votes and with that, loss of power’

Governments fear the loss of votes? And for me seeing desperate young ‘failed’ teenagers, worn out mums and dads and several stressed out executives on a daily basis, the reality of this quest for ‘better and bigger’ is all too real.
Wellbeing – ‘being at one with Nature’ is for us to want foremost……..

Please add your comments if you have a different dimension or perception?
What does Wellbeing mean to you? What does Wealth mean to you? Can we balance both Wellbeing and Wealth?

These are timely questions.

Thanks, Carolyn

Wellbeing versus Wealth

Wellbeing versus Wealth [ Business : ]

The central political challenge of our times.” Perhaps an abundance of money also comes with guilt at the unequal distribution of quality of life. What do you think?

DAVID CAMERON will tell business leaders today that there is “more to life than money” as he attempts to make a clean break with Thatcherism.

He will tell business leaders that “general wellbeing” is more important than personal wealth and will list beautiful surroundings, culture and better relationships as society’s new goals.

The Tory leader, who enjoys considerable wealth of his own, has made a timely intervention on the subject of Margaret Thatcher’s legacy. Her years in power are the subject of a television adaptation of the award-winning novel The Line of Beauty, which charts the highs and lows of the decade.

However, Mr Cameron will also use his speech to a Google Zeitgeist conference in Hertfordshire to promise that there will be no new laws to promote flexible jobs for working mothers, saying that companies should be free to find their own answers to the work-life balance.

He will make clear that a Conservative government led by him would have different priorities from Mrs Thatcher’s.

“Wealth is about so much more than pounds or euros or dollars can ever measure. It’s time we admitted that there’s more to life than money, and it’s time we focused not just on GDP, but on GWB — general wellbeing,” he will say.

“Wellbeing can’t be measured by money or traded in markets. It can’t be required by law or delivered by government.

“It’s about the beauty of our surroundings, the quality of our culture, and above all the strength of our relationships. Improving our society’s sense of wellbeing is, I believe, the central political challenge of our times.”

This is likely to be unpopular with right-wingers in his party who think that Conservatives should stand for wealth creation and tax cuts. What do you think?

Enjoy the Christmas message! wink Carolyn

The Sun Published this headline 29 Oct 2007

BRITONS are today urged to dig deep in their pockets and repay a massive debt of gratitude to the nation’s forces heroes.
Hundreds of our dedicated fighters – have been wounded in battlefields across Iraq and Afghanistan.

And with the Government unable to cope with the rising toll, it is falling increasingly to forces’ charities to bear the brunt of the impending crisis.

Xmas Wish

Social : Xmas Wish!

by Carolyn WilliamsPowerNetworker on 13-Dec-08 1:14pm

Mariéme’s Blog ‘Refection time You and Me’ was beautiful and timely http://www.ecademy.com/node.php?id=118580 as I was thinking of my Saturday ‘Xmas Wish’ Blog. Here are some questions for you all to consider and to help you answer some of them on your Xmas list!

Wants and wishes that some skilled coaching and insight can help you achieve. Sometimes it’s not so much what we want to have or wish to do, that is the question, but who do we want to be? Do you want to be more peaceful, less anxious have more confidence, perhaps at last gain some health and vitality doing all those things, finally, that you say you will?
Maybe you’d like to be fitter, able to voice your own needs for once or simply stop worrying what the heck everyone thinks about you? Would it be nice not to have to be proving yourself to the world and his dog by running around like a headless chicken and never reaching personal satisfaction? Do you simply want to give love and receive it fully with someone you trust?
Start by writing out all the things you want for yourself. You might like to try having some fun doing this little ‘xmas wish’ exercise, I have compiled especially for you? It really gives you that retail therapy fix as well as expanding your consciousness around abundance.

Here are some of my top tips to help you on your way to achieving some, if not all of those wishes smile
How about giving Jim ‘Da Man’s book as a gift? http://www.theprosperityequation.com Maybe benefit from some Health and Vitality massage therapy from our lovely Emma James http://www.ecademy.com/account.php?id=71240 or wear some gorgeous designer jewellery from Tanya Igic ’s collection www.tanyaigic.co.uk http://www.ecademy.com/account.php?id=384096 or put your feet up and enjoy a glass of wine from Victor “Wine/Olive” Oil Star” Marques vineyard http://www.youtube.com/vitormmarques while you read some lovely poems and stories from our storyteller extraordinaire, Jack Kuperman http://www.ecademy.com/account.php?id=242566 and then if you have a thirst for more culture and want to be educated log onto Suhads website http://www.globalibrium.org http://www.ecademy.com/account.php?id=214741
Any one left still in the mood for games, why not answer some of the questions on Mehmet’s blogs. Here is one for you to try http://www.ecademy.com/node.php?id=118593 And finally why not click onto John Booth’s profile http://www.ecademy.com/account.php?id=237954 to get all those niggly financial problems answered?
or simply laugh with Keith Whitney, reading some of his funny jokes, as I do weekly http://www.ecademy.com/account.php?id=30075

Oh such beautiful Santa Gifts!

Happy Christmas Hugs

Lazer Coaching

Rest assured this is a credit crunch and global warming-free zone. Who wants so much bad news? I don’t know about you but I need another dire warning of economic doom like Obama needs Osama.

We can make like an ostrich and bury our heads in our duvets or face our futures fearlessly and full on. You have a choice. But why not turn futility into fertility and use this time to be creative?

Are you a stunned Rabbit in the headlights or do you want to effect some major career changes, get a job you’ll love or maximize and improve on the Business one you already have.

Work is such an emotive issue and, like money, has a whole unholy host of spooky beliefs around it. Do you come from the “you’re not supposed to enjoy work, it’s duty, get on with it” school of work called depression? That was until I had this unsightly belief painlessly removed by some amazing laser coaching.

Would you like to share some of your beliefs?

Blowing in the Wind

Blowing in the Wind! [ Social : ]
Reconciliation, transformation for changes. When you coach for lifestyle changes and wise
you allow Nature to heal the pain of loss or suffering and allow yourself to be inspired.
You sit back and watch the transformations take place. Those transformations are all about Beauty in Nature

Nature Heals. Nature Inspires. Nature Gives and Takes. On Friday I walked through miles of Trust Gardens and Bike trails
All I can suggest is ‘Please Take a Walk on the Wild side?’ wink Take a good look at your nearest Park, Garden, Beach, Hills, Mountains and watch the transformation of autumn colours and happenings

Happenings are happening all around us. As I listen to our Remembrance Service this morning, I feel the pride the anguish, the joy the pain and I look at the poppies. ‘Poppy Love ’says it all as you SEE the red among the rust autumn leaves and Trees. The colours inspire, the wounds they heal. ‘They shall not grow old: age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
As the going down of the sun and in the Morning we will remember them. We will remember them’

We in the West witnessed Barack Obama’s victory. It was a long time coming but’s it’s here. I read Steven Healey say these words too! I would add for the West the result of these elections were a long time coming for our wellbeing. Now they are HERE!!
I believe it’s a time for reconciliation and rehabilitation. I want to SEE our young service men walk tall, be recognised for the brave men they truly are.
I yearn for a change of leadership in this Country. The kind of leadership we see, not just shown in holding our Economy together but also for our Nations wellbeing. Let us be the change. I feel the answer is blowing in the wind.
What are your feelings on Remembrance Sunday?

Wellbeing Three Cliff’s Bay, Gower

After attending an invite last night from the owners of Swansea Life – Business Magazine, to hear a Panel of Speakers debate the deterioration of the Welsh economy in light of steady growth from previous years. The message from where I was sitting was both Loud and Clear. To work through the next few years and to spot new opportunities, we have to remain Awake, Alert and Alive. Burying heads in the sand or going to the wall or indeed being numbed by anti depressants wont alter our economic situation. It is how we perceive and think about our work and life that puts the ‘gloom and doom’ into perspective.

Here I have pasted my favourite beauty spot for you all to see and feel. This coastline was featured on the Great British coastline ‘beauty awards’ programme on BBC. Please take a moment to study the view and to take in it’s beauty.

Britain’s favourite view? I’ve got to agree with Katherine Jenkins, it takes my breath away every time…

Here too is my weekly training run/climb. Most weeks I take Louis, my daughter KC Spaniel puppy with me. It is one of
the most therapeutic and relaxing activities that I can recommend. To improve anyone’s breathing rates and quality is to lower heart rates and in doing so calms the mind. A glimpse of heaven. And it’s free.

Do you have a favourite view?
